The 16th International Symposium on Electrokinetics
ELKIN
Operating since 1993 as the biennial meeting of the International Electrokinetics Society (IES), ELKIN is an international symposium on electrokinetics welcoming discussions and the latest advances in the field. It was last held in Seville, Spain, in 2024.
The IES is an international body promoting interdisciplinary research and knowledge-sharing in the field of electrokinetics. To that end, this year ELKIN will host a forum on topics ranging from the fundamentals of electrokinetics to their applications in the real world.
This edition of ELKIN boasts an added focus on translating electrokinetics research to industrial opportunities.

Awards
- Stanislav Dukhin Medal in Electrokinetics: For lifetime achievement in the field of electrokinetics. The winner receives a medal and €1500.
- Johannes Lyklema Early Career Award in Electrokinetics: For outstanding research in the field of electrokinetics. The winner receives a certificate and €500.
Gala Dinner
The conference gala dinner will be held at Madurodam, a miniature park of the Netherlands.
Attendees will have 30 minutes to enjoy the attractions and scale-model replicas of iconic Dutch landmarks and cities from 18:30 to 19:00. Dinner will start at 19:00.
Industry Excursion
We will offer an excursion to TNO’s Faraday Lab in Petten on Friday morning, June 26 (lunch boxes included).
The Faraday Lab is Europe’s largest Hydrogen Research Facility, where TNO works together with electrolysers manufacturers and their suppliers on technological breakthroughs to scale up and optimize electrolysis technologies (PEM, alkaline, SOEC and AEM). The future electrolysers must work more efficiently, produce more, and comprise cheaper materials to be attractive to use. At the Faraday Lab, manufacturers can develop and test new materials, components and applications with TNO, with all the necessary facilities and under different testing conditions.

Located adjacent to the city centre and the train station, The Hague Conference Centre New Babylon is an easy walk away from the train station, city centre, and other favoured destinations in The Hague.
Travel
You can take a bus or a train from Amsterdam in a 40-minute journey.
Regarding flights to Amsterdam, participants can benefit from a 10% discount through our partnership with KLM / Air France. All details will be in the registration confirmation email.

There are several hotels available within walking distance from the venue, as well as many options located near the beach around 20 minutes by tram from the venue.
